Checking off the boxes

Our social worker is a major rock star, and actually braved this crazazy weather to complete our new homestudy for China.  I think it was a bit of a formality, actually, but it's still nice to have it out of the way.  Our sweet, elderly dog acted like a maniac, barking and passing gas with the best of them.  Cory and I were looking at each other--who is this crazy mutt who has replaced our girl?  Our social worker seemed unperturbed by this, although I think her eyes watered at one point.  Darn dog.  She ended the visit by saying that she didn't have any concerns, so that's good enough for me.  Stressful, yes, but done.  Phew!

  1. Awwww, dogs, always around to help add their two cents, ha. I wonder if she'll even mention the dog--I know sometimes in foreign countries they are not as familiar with the concept of indoor dogs as pets and so it's best to not mention them, at least we were told that by our social worker. Or at least leave out the gas part, ha! Hooray--CHECK!

  5. I think dogs know that home studies will bring babies, and this makes them nervous. During our home study interviews, my dog went into every room in our house to tear up the contents of our trash cans and spread it all over the floors of the bedrooms so that when we went on a tour of the house, the social worker found torn up trash in each room, as if this is how we keep our house!! Sabotage...haha!

  8. Awww, Maggie! I agree that dogs pick up on things--our dog peed as she was saying hi to our case manager. Then she shook and shivered for the rest of the visit--chihuahuas do that but it didn't do us any favors. -Shannon

  10. Sure, blame the dog :) I completely understand. My lab can clear a room with the best of them. Glad it is over - I found the home inspection to be the most stressful part of the home study.

  11. This post cracked me up. Glad to hear you did well on the home study despite the the toxic chemicals spewing forth from your puppy.

I saw your comment on my blog and popped on over and realized I have TOTALLY READ your blog before! Way back in the early 2011s. What a small world. :)
